Lot 242
Rakoczi, Basil 1908-1979 British/Irish AR Two figures in Dublin.

Auction: December 2021

20 x 24 ins., (51 x 61  cms.) Water Colour, Signed lower right. Basil Rakoczi was one of the most interesting people to have painted in Ireland. He was a founder member of the White Stag Group with his friend Kenneth Hall when as a pacifist he moved to Ireland to escape the war. He did a great deal to help bring more modern art to many Irish painters of the time. We are delighted to be selling this painting, it is really one of his best.

Estimate: £800 - £1,200
