Roussoff, (Real Name Wolkoff-Moromtzoff) 1844 - 1928, Russian, Street Scene, Castiglione, Como. 20 x 10.25 ins., (51 x 26 cms.), Oil on Board, Signed and Titled, Fine Art Society Label Verso. Born in St Petersburg into an aristocratic family, he spent his early adulthood as an academic and began learning to paint during a break in Germany in the 1870s. Having then decided to dedicate his life to art, he moved to Venice in 1880 and began gaining recognition across Europe. His work was displayed with London's Fine Art Society for over 20 years. He was friends with many famous figures including Richard Wagner and Franz Liszt. The Fine Art Society held 30 exhibitions for him.
