(sheet size), Signed in Pencil lower right. An un-umbered archive proof aside from the edition of 70 Printed at the Curwen Studio, London 1964. Part of the Retrospect of Churches portfolio. Very good clean condition, no signs of fading. Provenance: Acquired directly from the printer's archive. Note: The Tate Gallery also holds an un-numbered archive proof in its permanent print collection There are six lithographs by John Piper in the sale printed by the Curwen Gallery in the 1960s and all are in very good condition and unframed. The prints were master minded by Stanley Jones, the most distinguished print maker in Britain at the time. Each sheet of paper contains Piper's personal watermark.
