Newington, Charles Contemporary British AR, Passing Tales. 10.5 x 15.5 ins., (16.75 x 39.5 cms.), Drypoint Etching, Signed. Charles was asked to produce a work for an exhibition in Canterbury Museum in 2000, the six hundredth anniversary of Chaucer's death. Passing Tales based on the travels of Chaucer was a celebration of his work and achievements. Charles's painting paid homage to David Jones in his neo-medieval romantic style. No 1 of this edition now hangs in the museum's permanent collection next to William Blake's etching of the Canterbury Pilgrims and Elizabeth Frink's etching of the Canterbury Tales, exalted company indeed.
