Maze, Paul 1887-1979 Belgian/French/British Vase of Flowers, 29.5 x 21.5 in (75 x 54.4 cm), Pastel, Signed Paul Maze seems to qualify as any one of three nationalities! Whilst painting in Perugia in 1914, World War 1 broke out, Paul Maze decided to join up with the Royal Scots Greys and fought with much gallantry gaining several decorations. His World War 1 drawings are extremely interesting and good. After the war he settled in Paris gaining his French connection, but later moved to England. He was much acclaimed in 'society' and counted Winston Churchill as one of his friends. He painted many scenes of guards on parade, guards marching and his wife. The Musces Royaux de Beaux Arts Gallery in Brussels holds some wonderful examples of his work.
