The Hour Angle watch was designed by Charles Lindbergh, the 20th Century American aviator who shot to fame after completing a non-stop trans Atlantic flight from New York's Long Island to Le Bourget Airport in Paris, a distance of some 3,600 miles. Flying in a single seat, single engine monoplane named the Spirit of St. Louis, Lindbergh completed his epic journey in 33.5 hours. After his feat he wrote to the director of Longines describing in detail a watch that would make navigation easier for pilots. The watch was manufactured to his design and is still produced today.
