Bratby, John Randall 1928-1992 RA British Calf, 15 x 21.75 in (38 x 55.5 cm), Watercolour and Pencil. In the late 1950s Bratby was probably the most widely known painter in Britain as one of the leaders of the Beaux Arts Quartet. He had also painted the images for the film, the Horse's Mouth with Alec Guinness in the lead role of Gulley Jimson. The Calf was painted in the late 1980s, when he was a much calmer figure.
