An Order of The Liberator of Venezuela presented to Wilhelm Sievers, late 19th century. Modelled with a sun ray border, one side depicting an oval portrait bust of the liberator Simon Bolivar decorated in shallow relief enclosed with his name inscribed against a blue enamel ground with the reverse depicting the coat of arms of Venezuela. This order was the highest distinction awarded, ranking first in the order of precedence and was awarded to those who provided services to the country through outstanding merit and benefits to the community. Suspended on a three stripped ribbon. 2.5 in (6.3 cm) length. Provenance: Wilhelm Sievers was a well known German geologist and geographer with his field of work focusing mainly on South America. This order was provided to Grand Auctions by a person of direct descent.
