An early 19th century Derby coffee can and saucer
An early 19th century Derby coffee can and saucer. Circa 1800 - 1825. Soft paste porcelain, with a pattern in imitation of Japanese Imari ware, divided into panels containing floral sprays painted in underglaze blues, greens and reds with gilt decoration. Both bear the red enamel mark of a crown surmounted by crossed batons and dots with a 'D' below. Comes with an early 20th century gift note written on an Artillery Mansions Hotel compliments slip. 2.6 in (6.7 cm) cup diameter, 2.5 in (6.4 cm) cup height, 5.6 in (14.2 cm) saucer diameter.
