A Victorian 'Special Constable' police truncheon, 19th century. Painted against a black ground with Queen Victoria's crowned 'VR' royal cypher in gilt letters and a foliate cartouche beneath inscribed 'Special Constable'. Impressed 'Parker' of 'Holborn' to the end of the ribbed handle. 18.5 in (47 cm) length.
