A Sunday golfing walking cane
A Sunday golfing walking cane. Converted from a hickory shaft golf putter. Struck Hutchison, N Berwick. When golf initially became a popular sport, it was frowned upon to play on a Sunday with the majority of golf courses being closed. Hence, defiant golfers would sometimes disguise their golf clubs and irons as walking canes whereby taking a walk on the golf course could have a cheeky, subtle practice session. This collectable item makes great conversational piece and provides an interesting historical facet to the sports history. 37.1 in (94.2 cm) length.
