A rare Indian parcel gilt silver veena spice box, probably early 20th century. Modeled in the form of an Indian Veena instrument with a gilt sarrakoi (resonator) and yali in the form of a dragons head flanked by five reconstituted amber birdai (pegs). The fingerboard is integrated as a hinged cover opening to reveal four compartmented trays and the large bulbous kudam section opening with a hinged cover to reveal a tray with three sections and a further storage compartment beneath. 22 in (56 cm) length. Weight: 1158 grams.
