A pair of Chinese finely painted garlic neck bottle vases, 20th century. Both of globular form with tall, slender cylindrical necks, garlic shaped mouths and relief moulded with green, gilt highlighted dragons coiled around the bodies. The exteriors are finely painted depicting blossoming branches of peonies against a scarlet red ground with gilt decoration consisting of foliage, butterflies, single bands to the mouths and baring several lines of calligraphy to the reverse. Both bear apocryphal Qianlong four character seal marks in overglaze blue enamel beneath. 9.1 in (23.2 cm) high.
