A Malay or Sumatran ceremonial kris dagger, Malaysia or Indonesia, early 20th century or earlier. With a carved wood hilt, the scabbard's sandalwood top section formed as a boat's keel (wrangka) and the body clad in partially painted red brass, profusely decorated in repousse to one side depicting peacocks amongst scrolling foliage. The double edged blade is considerably older and decorated depicting rare depictions of two putut figures in a praying position. 18.7 in (47.4 cm) total length. 13.7 in (34.8 cm) length of blade.
