A large full length statue of Marilyn Monroe

A large full length statue of Marilyn Monroe. Modelled in fibre glass on a circular base, hand painted and depicted standing in the famous pose from Billy Wilder's ''The Seven Year Itch'' (1955), where, on a hot summers evening upon leaving the Trans Lux Theatre, she stands on a subway grate at the northwest corner of Lexington Avenue and 52nd Street, Manhattan, New York, delighting in the cool whooshing of the passing subway train beneath, resulting in her white skirt billowing up. Provenance: This particular statue came from Hollywood and is considered to most likely be from the 1950's sent to the UK to mark the launch of the film and made for the foyer of one of the leading cinemas in London at the time, possibly the Leicester Square cinema. 66.5 in (169 cm) tall, 47.6 in (121 cm) wide.
