A large Chinese jade pendant


A large Chinese jade pendant. Probably 19th century. Carved in the form of a gui combined with a bi disc and surmounted with scrolling chilongs carved and incised in high relief, diving and emerging from clouds, the underside embellished with incised and raised linked C-scrolls to the bi enclosed within an incised border and with further incised patterns and decoration depicting mythical beasts to the gui, the stone of a translucent pale celadon tone with vertical russet veins. 11.5 in (29.3 cm) length. Provenance: Formerly in the Alexander Taylor collection
