A German engraved steel casket, Nuremberg, South Germany, mid/late 16th century. Of rectangular chest shaped form and supported on bun feet. The hinged cover etched with a double headed eagle is incorporated with a central swing handle and key hole opening to reveal the spring action lock mechanism and single compartment. The exterior sides are etched with panels and bands of foliate decoration. A key is included. 3.9 in (10 cm) height, 5.6 in (14.3 cm) width, 3.3 in (8.5 cm) depth.
