A George III terrestrial pocket globe after Hermann Moll, 18th century. The spherical globe is partially hand coloured and varnished, marked with the course of Cook's 1760 voyage and bears a cartouche inscribed 'A correct GLOBE with new discoveries'. The fish skin wrapped wooden spherical hinged case has two clasps with celestial hand coloured maps to the interior and a cartouche inscribed 'A correct Globe with y New Constellations of Dr Halley & c.' Globe: 2.8 in (7 cm) diameter. Case: 3 in (7.7 cm) approximate diameter.
