Description:

A Copeland green ground part dessert service depicting topographical views. Each piece is hand painted to the centre with depictions of various rural landscapes against an apple green ground surrounded by concentric gilt bands and foliate decoration. The two tazzas depict scenes of Loch Katrine and Scarborough. The two squat tazzas depict scenes of a view near Aber and the Lake of Magiore. The set of twelve plates depict images of Lake of Killarney, Norham Castle, Brothers Water Westmorland, a view near Selkirk, Emmerdale Cumberland, Elterwater, Durenstein, Patterdale Westmorland, Water End Cumberland, Vale of Ossau and two different scenes of Windermere. All pieces are underglaze printed with turquoise Copeland factory marks dating from 1851 to 1885 with the names of the locations and the pattern number D6729 painted in red beneath. 9.5 in (24.1 cm) diameter of tazzas, 9 in (22.9) diameter of plates.
