A Chinese jade carving of a ram. 18th century, probably Qianlong period (1736 - 1795 A.D.) The recumbent ram is carved with its legs tucked underneath its body and the head facing backwards with finely incised details to the head and tail, the stone of pale celadon tone with russet inclusions cleverly incorporated to highlight the neck, legs and tail. 2.3 in (5.8 cm) length. Provenance: Formerly in the Alexander Taylor collection
