A Chinese jade carving of a qilin


A Chinese jade carving of a qilin. Possibly Yuan dynasty (1279 - 1368) or later. The mythical beast is carved in a seated position, head looking up with an open jaw and with a forked tail similar in form to a linghzi fungus, the stone of a greyish off-white translucent tone with brown veins throughout. 1.9 in (4.9 cm) length.
