A Chinese famille rose bottle vase, early 20th century. Republic period (1912 - 49). Of ovoid form with a pierced openwork band of decoration around the entire body comprised of intertwined, scrolling Archaistic dragons and phoenixes amongst clouds in pale celadon with gilt outlines revealing an inner cylindrical section decorated with floral patterns in blue on a white ground, the openwork exterior enclosed within a key fret and floral pattern border, the waisted neck decorated with hibiscus scrolls against a finely incised blue sgraffiato ground rising to a gilt banded rim painted to the interior with a turquoise ground. Apocryphal Qianlong six character Zhuangshu script seal mark in underglaze blue enamel against a turquoise ground to the base. 12.8 in (32.5 cm) height.
