A Chinese famille noir mille fleur vase, early 20th century. Of globular shape resembling a pomegranate with the mouth formed as a calyx with five equidistantly moulded sepals, the exterior enamel painted with a colourful variety of flowers including peonies and chrysanthemums on a black ground, the interior of the mouth painted in underglaze turquoise enclosed within a gilt band to the lip. Apocryphal Qianlong four character seal mark in overglaze blue enamel against a turquoise ground to the base. 5 in (12.7 cm) height.
